Day 1 – Building the Foundation of 5S

 

1. Introduction to 5S & Lean Manufacturing

  • What is 5S and why it matters in production lines
  • The link between 5S, waste reduction & efficiency
  • Real factory success stories

2. S1 – Sort (Seiri): Eliminate the Unnecessary

  • Identifying useful vs. unnecessary items
  • Red tagging exercise in a simulated workstation
  • Case study: Reducing clutter to improve safety

3. S2 – Set in Order (Seiton): Organize for Flow

  • Layout optimization, labeling, color coding
  • Tool and parts arrangement for quick access
  • Group exercise: Visual workplace redesign

4. S3 – Shine (Seiso): Cleaning for Inspection

  • Cleaning standard for equipment and work areas
  • Detecting early signs of wear, leaks, or misalignment
  • Practice: Develop a daily 5-minute Shine routine

5. Reflection & Group Discussion

  • Identify 5S improvement opportunities in current production area

Day 2 – Sustaining & Driving Continuous Improvement

 

1. Recap & Experience Sharing

2. S4 – Standardize (Seiketsu): Creating Consistent Practices

  • Standard work visual, tagging system, and SOP board
  • Hands-on: Create a visual checklist for workstation standard

3. S5 – Sustain (Shitsuke): Embedding 5S Discipline

  • Daily routine, audit, and 5S scoreboard
  • Role of leader and supervisor in sustaining 5S
  • Group activity: 5S Patrol simulation

4. 5S Implementation Planning

  • Step-by-step roadmap for rolling out 5S in factory area
  • 5S audit form and KPI tracking introduction

5. Team Presentation & Action Plan

  • Each group presents a real workplace 5S improvement proposal

6. Closing & Commitment

  • Certificate presentation & “My 5S Pledge” ceremony
